The tests menu comprises of fully automated Aerobic Blood cultures, Automated TB cultures, Fungal cultures, Air, Food and Water cultures. We perform over 100 microbiological tests per day. The automated set-up helps in early detection of pathogens >89 % within 24 hrs and 97% within 48 hrs especially in cases like septicaemia, enteric fever, bacterial endocarditis and PUO. For TB cultures reports are available between 7-15 days. Drug sensitivity for TB is available within 1 week of positive culture. This allows the clinician to identify specific mycobacteria & start use of correct medication quickly in view of increasing drug resistence for TB bacilli.
