Radiology services have been offered by Piramal Diagnostics for the last 3-4 years, since the acquisition of “diagnostic centres” that offer pathology along with low-end radiology, such as X-ray and USG.
On Jan 01, 2007, Jankharia Imaging, Mumbai’s premier radiology and imaging centre joined Piramal Diagnostics to kick-start Piramal Diagnostics’s foray into the world of high-end radiology and imaging. These services include CT scan, cardiac CT, MRI, color Doppler and other advanced ultrasound features, bone densitometry, digital OPG and the like.
Over the last 24 months, Piramal Diagnostics has acquired 8 practices that offer high-end radiology services, in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Coimbatore, New Delhi, Mumbai and Mysore. It has started a Greenfield public-private enterprise in Indore, in the MY Hospital, being the first to start a 64-slice cardiac CT and 1.5T MRI in the city in early 2007. Piramal Diagnostics has also acquired the radiology departments of two prominent hospitals, the Dr. L.H.H. Hiranandani Hospital in Powai, Mumbai and the ApolloVictorHospital in Margao, Goa. State-of-the-art 1.5T MRI scanners have been installed in both these hospitals by Piramal Diagnostics. Piramal Diagnostics also runs CT scanners in Amritsar, Guwahati and Kanpur, the latter being a new 6-slice scanner.
Piramal Diagnostics has also installed or upgraded the MRI scanners in Surat, Vadodara and Coimbatore and has installed a new 64-slice CT scanner in Ahmedabad. PDSL along with its partner, DDNMRC (Doctors Diagnostic Nuclear Medicine & Research Centre) in Kerala runs a 64-slice CT scanner in Trivandrum.
Piramal Diagnostics is also spearheading the growth of digital OPG and DXA (bone densitometry) services throughout the country and has installed a large number of such machines in a majority of its centres.
Piramal Diagnostics has been the first to install a high-definition PET/CT, in private practice in Mumbai. A 3T-MRI with functional MRI capabilities has recently been installed.
Piramal Diagnostics is the largest radiology practice in the country, both in terms of the installed equipment, as well as in terms of revenue and patient numbers.
